The Ödenburg is the ruin of a summit castle at 805  m above sea level. NN high mountain peak in the Oberstetten district of the Hohenstein municipality in the Reutlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle was built from 1050 to 1100 by the lords of Oberstetten and mentioned at the end of the 11th century, between 1200 and 1250 the castle was abandoned after being destroyed and fell into disrepair. From 1460 the castle was called Ödenburg because it was deserted, ie "desolate". In 1978 the facility was partially demolished and a water reservoir was created.

From the former castle complex, which had a moat , a rampart, a palace , a kennel wall and a surrounding wall, remains of the kennel wall and the moat are still preserved.
