Öndörchaan ( Mongolian Өндөрхаан ) is the capital of the Chentii-Aimag in Mongolia .
geography
Öndörchaan lies on the banks of the Cherlen River on a wide and unprotected plain. It is the second coldest city in Mongolia.
economy
A coal mining area on the Mörön River around 50 km from the city is the region's largest economic factor.
history
The plane of the Chinese politician Lin Biao is said to have crashed on September 13, 1971 near Öndörchaan on his flight from China. He and his family were killed in the process.

The airport of Öndörchaan (UNR / ZMUH) has an unpaved runway and is served by regular flights to and from Ulan Bator .
The city is a transport hub on the route between Ulan Bator and Choibalsan , as well as on a secondary overland route between Mongolia and China.
