from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Önzberg tunnel is a 3,173 meter long, double-lane railway tunnel on the new Mattstetten – Rothrist line of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The tunnel, opened in 2004, crosses the Önzberg near Herzogenbuchsee in the canton of Bern .

The three tunnel portals at the east entrance are a special feature. The middle portal is the entrance to the Önzberg Tunnel, while the two outer portals belong to the Wolfacher North Tunnel (597 meters) and the Wolfacher South Tunnel (436 meters). These two tunnels are part of the junction to the upgraded Solothurn – Wanzwil line .
