Lake Östen is located in the Swedish province of Västergötland about 20 kilometers north of the city of Skövde .

Lake Östen is about 7 square kilometers and has an average depth of one meter. It forms a nature reserve with the surrounding wetlands . Migratory birds , especially swans , ducks and geese, can be observed from the three bird stations.

Lake Östen is one of the Swedish Ramsar areas .
