Österleden is a planned motorway in the Swedish capital Stockholm . The motorway is to pass east of the city center, it would be the last section of the still unfinished Stockholm motorway ring . In 2007, a project study was commissioned for which the provincial government has not yet responded. In January 2008, Stockholm Mayor Kristina Axén Olin announced that the political majority was in favor of the motorway construction. However, construction is to begin in 2020 at the earliest, and completion is not expected before 2030.

history

The first plans for a connection east of the city center were part of the regional plans of 1928 and 1960. The motorway was to run in a tunnel, that was a cornerstone of the "Dennis Agreement" of 1992, an agreement for the construction of roads in the Stockholm region . In 1997 the agreement was canceled and the tunnel plans discarded.

Course and costs

The project study contains three possible variants of the route.

Alternative C : New tunnel below the west of Djurgården , the cost of this variant is estimated at 12-15 billion crowns

Alternative D : The route of a tunnel, similar to the plans in the 1990s, passes under the districts of Saltsjön and Djurgården . The costs for this amount to 9-12 billion crowns

Alternative F : A tunnel between the municipalities of Nacka and Lidingö . The costs for this variant would be 10-15 billion crowns.
