Austrian Olympic medal
The Austrian Olympic Medal and the Austrian Olympic Medal 1976 are federal marks of merit of the Republic of Austria . On the occasion of the organization of the IX. Olympic Winter Games Innsbruck 1964 and the XII. Olympic Winter Games Innsbruck 1976 donated by federal laws and were intended to award people who have made outstanding contributions to the preparation and implementation of the games through personal and exemplary commitment.
The award was made by the Federal President on the proposal of the Federal Government.
Appearance 1964
The award is a circular ring with a loop and for the tape with a diameter of 35 mm made of bronze -made silver plated medal . On the obverse it shows the emblem of the Olympic Games and the five Olympic rings , which are followed by the inscription IX. OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES INNSBRUCK 1964 above and FOR MERIT below are enclosed. The reverse shows the coat of arms of the Republic of Austria .
Appearance 1976
The award is also a circular silver-plated medal made of bronze with an eyelet and ring for the ribbon with a diameter of 35 mm. On the front it shows the emblem of the Olympic Games, the five Olympic rings and above them the two fire bowls, on the right and left accompanied by the year 19 76 . Above enclosed by the inscription XII. OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES INNSBRUCK and below FOR MERIT . The reverse shows the coat of arms of the Republic of Austria.
Strap and way of carrying
- The ribbon of the medal from 1964 is white, 40 mm wide and has a 12 mm wide red-white-red central stripe as well as a 1 mm wide, red protrusion on both sides.
- The band of the medal from 1976 is white, 40 mm wide and has a 12 mm wide red-white-red central stripe as well as two symmetrical 5 mm wide side stripes in the five Olympic colors (blue, black, red, yellow, green).
The award is worn by men on a triangular ribbon and by women on the bow on the left side of the chest.
