The Austrian Journal for Sociology (ÖZS) is a German-language scientific journal . The journal is published by the Austrian Society for Sociology (ÖGS). The first edition appeared in 1976, since then the issues have been published quarterly by the Springer VS publishing house .

Content orientation and frequency of publication

German and English texts from all areas of sociology are published : theoretical and empirical scientific articles, research notes (short presentations of unpublished, completed projects of wide interest), reports (of events, events, initiatives, brief descriptions of sociological institutes etc.), book reviews and Contributions to the discussion and statements on previous publications in the ÖZS. The target group of the journal are sociologists and scientists in related fields.

Four issues appear per year, they are designed either as open issues or as themed issues. Scientific papers are published with the aim of promoting sociological discussion and research. The entire diversity of scientific standpoints and doctrines, including such an interdisciplinary orientation, should be taken into account in the contributions.
