Austrian Society for Sociology

The Austrian Society for Sociology ( ÖGS ) in the legal form of a private, non-profit association aims to promote sociology and the relevant professions in Austria.

The company was founded in 1950. Its members have a sociological education and / or work in sociological professions. The ÖGS is a member of the Association of Austrian Scientific Societies (VWGÖ), the European Sociological Association (ESA) and the International Sociological Association (ISA). President (as of 2019) is Martin Weichbold ( University of Salzburg ).

The society is publisher of the Austrian Journal for Sociology (ÖZS).
