The Austrian Biomass Association (ÖBMV), based in Vienna, is an Austrian information, discussion and expert platform on the subject of the energy transition . The focus is on the energetic use of biomass , from the generation of raw materials in agriculture, forestry, wood and waste management to end use in the areas of heat , electricity and fuel . The ÖBMV represents the largest renewable domestic energy resource , whose raw materials come from agriculture, forestry and wood industries as well as from municipal, commercial and industrial biogenic waste and thus the entire sector of energetic biomass use from raw material production to private consumers. The 1,200 members include the entire heating and power station industry as well as leading boiler manufacturers.

history

The association was founded on April 20, 1995 to support the industry as well as to raise awareness and inform the population. The first president was Heinz Kopetz (April 1995 to autumn 2010), followed by Horst Jauschnegg (autumn 2010 to January 2015). Josef Plank was President of the Austrian Biomass Association until the beginning of 2018 , after which Rudolf Freidhager took over the position. The current president is Franz Titschenbacher. Ernst Scheiber and, since January 2011, Christoph Pfemeter acted as managing directors. 1999 started seminars for installers and chimney sweeps , conducted Hermann Pummers that enable certification as Biowärmeinstallateur. The association journal "Ökoenergie" has been published since January 1991. Since 2005, the ÖBMV has organized the Central European Biomass Conference (CEBC) every three years.

Mission statement
