Josef Plank (* 29. August 1958 in Reinsberg ) is an Austrian agricultural economist and politician of the ÖVP . From 2000 to 2009 he was regional councilor in Lower Austria .

Life

Plank is the son of a mountain farming family . After graduating from the Scheibbs high school , he studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna . Afterwards he was responsible for cattle and meat marketing in the Chamber of Agriculture . In 1993 he moved to Agrarmarkt Austria , where he was CEO from 1996. In 2000 Erwin Pröll brought him into the Lower Austrian provincial government. Plank became a state councilor on June 29th. a. for affairs of agriculture , hunting , fishing and forestry , as well as the fire department responsible. On February 18, 2009, it was announced that Plank was resigning from his mandate as member of the state council for personal reasons. On February 19, 2009 Stephan Pernkopf , previously head of the cabinet of Vice Chancellor Josef Pröll, was presented as the new agricultural councilor by Governor Erwin Pröll.

Josef Plank has been managing director of RENERGIE Raiffeisen Managementgesellschaft für erneuerbare Energie GmbH since 2009 and is responsible for project acquisition and project development.

He was General Secretary of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture and Chairman of the Austrian Biomass Association .

Between January 2018 and May 2019 he was Secretary General at the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism .

Plank is married and has two children.
