The Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium Scheibbs (short: BORG Scheibbs ) than Oberstufenrealgymnasium a general education high school in the borough Scheibbs in Mostviertel in Lower Austria .

history

The state high school Scheibbs was opened in the school year 1964/65 as a music-pedagogical high school after this type of school was created in 1962 by the School Organization Act. The primary purpose of this new type of school was to train teachers for the compulsory school sector. The BORG Scheibbs was one of the first federal schools of this type and also set new impulses for general education in the otherwise peripheral region, because the district capital Scheibbs did not have a single school with a Matura certificate at that time .

In 1975 the school was converted into the newer form of the upper level secondary school , whereby a differentiation was made with a focus on artistic design and handicraft education and instrumental instruction . Later on, the computer science branch was also offered and, from the 2014/15 school year, also with sports and health , whereby every student has to choose one of the four branches before the first school year ( upper level , i.e. 5th grade  AHS or 9th  grade ).

School profile

The school has four branches:

The BORG Scheibbs offers the branch Sport and Health , a focus newly conceived by the teachers, which is intended to arouse interest in theoretical content such as sports biology , training theory , movement theory . Particular attention was paid to the development of comprehensive health skills. In addition, further qualifications can be acquired, such as a state-certified sports instructor , an otherwise one-semester, state-standardized course . For the second foreign language, you have to choose between Latin and Spanish . In addition, from the 6th grade onwards, a total of 6 hours per week must be selected from the canon of elective subjects offered . For example, French , geography and history or computer science can be individually set as an additional focus .
