The Austrian Crime Prize is an Austrian literary prize that has been awarded since 2017 for works in the field of crime literature . The prize, initiated by the management of the Krimifest Tirol , is endowed with 4,000 euros and is donated by changing sponsors, initially by the PEMA company and since 2019 by Swarovski Kristallwelten . The winner is chosen from a shortlist of three authors drawn up by crime fiction specialists (booksellers, bloggers and journalists). The award goes to crime thriller writers whose works are "particularly convincing in terms of content and literacy and underline the cultural and social relevance of the genre as well as initiating new trends within the genre."
