Mobakken, who started for the Nannestad Skiklubb , ran for the first time in the World Cup in Vang in March 1992 and finished 52nd over 50 km classic. In March 1994 he got his first world cup points in Falun with the 13th place over 30 km classic. This was also his best individual placement in the World Cup. In the 1996/97 season he reached 59th place in the overall World Cup with four placements in the points, his best overall result. He completed his 16th and last individual World Cup race in March 1998 in Oslo , which he finished classically in 29th place over 50 km. His best results in the Continental Cup were third in December 1995 over 15 km classic in Savalen and second place in January 1998 over 10 km classic in Åsarna . At Norwegian championships he won four times with the relay of Nannestad Skiklubb (1993-1996).
