Åsarna ( jämtländisch : Aosan ; older spelling Åsarne ) is a place ( tätort ) in the mountain community in southern Jämtland . The place is on the west bank of the lake Hålen and on the river Ljungan .

Åsarna is affectionately called Guldbyn, in English "Golddorf", because the local sports club has many winners of Olympic medals - for example, Torgny Mogren , Jan Ottosson , Thomas Wassberg and Anna Dahlberg trained at Åsarna IK .

Åsarna consists of the districts Västeråsen, Österåsen and Olsta (which are independent villages with their own center). The district court for the municipality of Berg is located in Österåsen. The place is on the Europastraße 45 and has a train station on the Inlandsbahn .
