The European route 14 from Sundsvall to Trondheim in east-west direction and the European route 45 from Agrigento to Karesuando in north-south direction cross in the middle of Jämtland County in Östersund .
There are direct train connections to Stockholm , Gothenburg , Malmö , Sundsvall and Trondheim .
The inland railway from Gällivare to Mora runs north to south through Jämtland County. The route is not continuous, but requires a change in Östersund . The northern section of the railway ends and the southern section begins there. Jämtlands län has two commercial airports with scheduled flights. There are direct connections from Östersund to Stockholm / Arlanda , Umeå and Luleå . There are seasonal direct charter connections to southern Europe and the Canary Islands . In the winter months there is charter traffic from Great Britain , Germany and Russia . There are also direct flights to Stockholm / Arlanda from Sveg in the municipality of Härjedalen .
Tourist routes
