Ytterhogdal is a place ( Tatort ) in the municipality of Härjedalen in the province of Jämtland County . Ytterhogdals socken belonged to the historical province of Hälsingland and, together with Ängersjö socken to the south (both form districts today ), represent the only part of Hälsingland that does not belong to Gävleborgs län .

The European route 45 , like the domestic railway, runs through the town, which lies between Sveg and Svenstavik . The population development is strongly declining, in 1980 Ytterhogdal had more than 1000 inhabitants, now the number has fallen to a little more than half.
