Vemdalen is a place ( tätort ) in the historic province Härjedalen and the province of Jämtland County . Vemdalen belongs to the municipality of Härjedalen . The place is about 50 kilometers north of Sveg - the main town of the municipality - at Länsväg 315.

A previously existing railway connection between Sveg and Hede was given up in 1966. Since Vemdalen is an important tourist center and one of the venues for the Alpine Ski World Cup in 1990 , the Röjan train station on the Inland Railway is now used for transporting tourists and winter sports enthusiasts to and from the area.

There is a local history museum and the block-built church with an older, free-standing bell tower in 1773.
