Coordinates: 63 ° 20 '  N , 14 ° 27'  O Krokom is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province Jamtlands Lan and the historical province Jämtland . The main town of the municipality is Krokom .

Other localities are Änge , Kaxås , Ås , Aspås , Dvärsätt , Föllinge , Nälden , Alsen , Trångsviken , Vaplan , Ytterån and many others. The European road E 14 runs through the municipality .

geography

The municipality extends from the Norwegian border about 100 kilometers south to Lake Storsjön . The northern part of the municipality is occupied by the Scandinavian Mountains , which descend to a plateau made up of alternating lakes, raised bogs and forests.

economy

Agriculture and forestry are strongly represented. Around 12 percent of the workforce work in the primary sector and only 15 percent in industry.

Attractions

Culturally and historically interesting and valuable settlements can be found near Alsen, 30 kilometers northwest of Krokom, and near Offerdal , 30 kilometers north of Krokom. There are also Iron Age burial mounds near Offerdal . In Glösa and Gärde there are unique rock carvings up to 7000 years old . You can see three life-size moose (Gärde). The Hasslingså Falls are 110 kilometers north of Krokom. Here the Hasslingså river overcomes a height difference of about 100 meters in several falls and rapids.
