Kaxås is a small town ( småort ) in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län and the historic province (landskap) Jämtland .
The village lies at the foot of Hällberges , about 60 kilometers northwest of Östersund in the parish Offerdal in the community Krokom .
Kaxås and other villages in Offerdal have long been characterized by a traditional farming culture. An 8,000 year old arrowhead (Offerdalsspetsen) was found in Åflo near Kaxås in 1881 . The name Kaxås has been documented since 1472. In the 19th century Kaxås became an important place in this part of Offerdal, mainly through trade and handicrafts.
