Offerdal
Offerdal is a parish with about 2100 inhabitants in the northern Swedish community Krokom . It belongs to the diocese of Härnösand . Änge , the main town of the parish, is located about 50 kilometers northwest of the Jämtland capital Östersund . Offerdal was a separate municipality until 1974 .

Offerdal is located in the western part of the historical province of Jämtland and today's province of Jämtland County . The southern part of Offerdal has long been characterized by a traditional farming culture. The northern part of the municipality, Oldfjällen , is part of the Scandinavian Mountains ( Fjäll ). Other mountains in Offerdal are the Hällberg and the Almåsaberg .
history
Offerdal was Christianized in the 11th century. The name Offerdal has been documented since 1314 ( Aflodal ). Offerdal was one of the largest communities in Jämtland and belonged to Norway from 1178 to 1536 and from 1537 to 1645 together with Norway to Denmark . In 1645 Offerdal came to Sweden through the Peace of Brömsebro . In the northern part of the municipality there has been a Sámi population group for at least 1000 years .
Settlements of cultural and historical interest can be found primarily in the southern part of the municipality. An 8000 year old arrowhead ( Offerdalsspetsen ) was found near Kaxås in 1881. In Gärde there are rock carvings up to 7000 years old . Among other things, you can see three life-size moose there.
In Rönnöfors there is a mine ruins. The Offerdals local history museum is located in Ede. There is a church in both Ede and Rönnöfors.
In Offerdal, Jämtland is still spoken, a dialect that differs greatly from Imperial Swedish .
