Rönnöfors is a collection of houses in the historic Swedish province of Jämtland and today's Jämtland County . The village is about 80 kilometers northwest of Östersund in the parish Offerdal in the community Krokom .

Rönnöfors is located in the northern part of Offerdal, in the immediate vicinity of the Scandinavian Mountains ( Oldfjällen ) and was not settled until the 18th century. The famous mountains nearby include Oldklumpen , Ansatten and Önrun .

A Sami population group has existed near Rönnöfors since around the early Middle Ages , especially in the villages of Jänsmässholmen , Olden and Frankrike .

In the 19th century there was an important mining industry in Rönnöfors and at the beginning of the 20th century u. a. built the church. The mine ruins can still be visited. A green quartzite, Offerdalsskiffer , is mined in Rönnöfors .
