Non-partisan citizen community Dachau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The non-partisan citizen community Dachau e. V. (ÜB) is an independent group of voters whose purpose is to bring together non-party voters in the large district town of Dachau and to participate in local elections in the city.

history

The establishment of the ÜB took place in 1959 with a view to the local elections in 1960. This was preceded by the formation of the “Third Fraction” in the Dachau city council after the 1956 election, which had the aim of gaining more political influence and preventing the center from being split up. The first time under the name ÜB, three city council mandates were won in 1960.

In the 1966 elections, the CSU supported the non-party mayoral candidate Lorenz Reitmeier, who was able to prevail by a narrow margin against the incumbent Xaver Böck ( SPD ). The ÜB was able to increase to four mandates in the city council election. In the following periods the number stabilized with three mandates.

In 1992 it was converted into a registered association. In the local elections in 1996 - Lorenz Reitmeier no longer ran because he had reached the age limit - the OB candidate of the ÜB, Kurt Piller , prevailed against the competition. The number of ÜB city council mandates jumped to eight. In the by-elections for the city council elections in 2002 , nine of the 40 seats were won. In 2008 the ÜB achieved six mandates, in 2014 four.

structure

Organs of the association are the board of directors (currently seven members), the extended board of directors (board of directors and members of the city council group) and the general assembly, which must be called at least once a year.

Kron-Maus Culture Prize

Every year since 1990, the ÜB has honored voluntary cultural workers from the Dachau urban area with the Kron-Maus Culture Prize. The name of the award goes back to the long-time ÜB member and city councilor Margarete Kron, known as “Zauner Maus”. The award takes place annually in early May.
