Þuríður Backman

Þuríður Backman ( transcribed Thuridur Backman ; born January 8, 1948 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( left-green movement ).

From 1999 to 2013 she was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing , first for the Eastern constituency, since 2003 for the North-Eastern constituency . From 1999 to 2007 she was vice-chairman of the parliamentary club of the Left-Green movement and since 2003 she was vice-speaker of parliament. She was a member of the Committee on Budget and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Health and head of the Icelandic Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union .
