The MÁV series ABbmot were diesel-mechanical multiple units of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) for express and express train traffic on non-electrified main and branch lines . The vehicles come from Hungarian production and have the drive system and technical equipment of the MÁV type Hargita , which have been used in various Eastern European countries since 1954.
history
The railcars were used from 1955 for use as express and express trains in wing train traffic. Therefore, little value was placed on the implementation of a multiple control , only the start-up and the switching of the individual speed levels could be remotely controlled. A machinist had to manned the controlled railcars to start and stop the machine system and to monitor the system.
Of them and the vehicles of the MÁV series Bbmot built between 1957 and 1958 , a total of 18 vehicles were produced for the MÁV.
The vehicles tended to derail, and they were difficult to maintain and therefore unpopular in workshops. The last railcar is said to have been in service until 1988. The ABbmot 610 is still drivable.
The Abmot series in Czechoslovakia
1955–1956 the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD bought 20 vehicles and also used them in city express traffic. They were not popular because of their tendency to derail and were not easy to maintain, and they were not in competition with the M 262.0 series , which were somewhat less powerful, but much more reliable and robust in operation and maintenance.
technical features
The diesel-mechanical vehicles had a five-speed gearbox. They were powered by a twelve-cylinder V-engine of the Ganz - Jendrassik type . This engine performed slightly more than the engines from Czech production, but had a higher mass. In order not to allow the axle load to exceed 15 t, the drive frame was designed with three axes and carried the entire drive unit. As a result, a design with a pivot was not possible. The load of the motor was taken up by the non-driven axis. The mass balance was not exact and the vehicles, like the ČSD series M 495.0 , tended to derail.
The railcar only contained the 2nd class. They had a luggage compartment in addition to the passenger compartment with an open-plan compartment. There was a driver's cab at both ends. Access to a toilet was possible from both entry rooms.
They had a transition option from the driver's cab to the sidecar.
