György Jendrassik

György Jendrassik (born May 13, 1898 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary , † February 8, 1954 in London ) was a Hungarian inventor .

In the 1930s

He studied mechanical engineering in Hungary and Germany. From 1924 he worked in the development department of the Ganz- Danubius machine factory on diesel engines for locomotives. In 1927 he patented the Ganz-Jendrassik engine, a high-speed four-stroke engine without compression with an antechamber. It should keep the same torque at every speed and start immediately even at low temperatures. The Hungarian railways and Danube and sea shipping were equipped with its engine.

He also built the first viable 100 hp gas turbine.
