Čedok as (abbreviation for Če skoslovenská do pravní k ancelář ; Czechoslovak Travel Agency ) is a Czech tour operator founded in 1920 .

history

The company was founded on July 21, 1920 in Prague . In 1922 the company had already opened branches in London , Vienna and Paris . In 1936 the company was converted into a joint stock company and was worth 3 billion crowns . In 1948 the tour operator was nationalized. Four years later, in 1952, management was integrated into the Ministry of Transport. During this time numerous hotels and restaurants belonged to the state enterprise.

In 1988 Čedok employed 21,000 people, owned 208 hotels with 23,000 beds, 265 restaurants, 32 ski lifts , 166 travel agencies in Czechoslovakia and 20 abroad .

In 1990 the hotels and restaurants were privatized and have not belonged to Čedok since then. Today (as of 2010) the tour operator has 46 branches in the Czech Republic and three in the rest of Europe.
