The Česká strana radikálně pokroková ( Czech radical progressive party ) was a Czech party in Austria-Hungary . It was founded in 1897 and existed until 1908.

history

The Czech Radical Progressive Party was founded in 1897 by the brothers Alois Hajn and Antonín Hajn . The roots of the party go back to the progressive wing of the Young Czechs , with the Czech Radical Progressive Party trying to maintain the tradition of the progressive movement with the support of the student associations. In addition to the students, the party recruited its supporters in particular from the petty-bourgeois and less well-to-do intellectuals, the small business owners and partly from the national workforce. The party stood up for the renewal of the Czech state within its full historical limits and demanded full democratic freedoms. Although the Czech Radical Progressive Party rejected the class struggle, like the Social Democrats it advocated full economic and political equality for women. Programmatically, the Czech radical progressive party moved closer to the realists under Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk . In the Reichsrat elections in 1900 and 1901 , the Czech radical-progressive party was able to achieve some successes despite weak party structures, but thanks to the curiae suffrage. After personnel changes and election tactics, the Czech radical-progressive party merged with the Česká strana státoprávní (Czech constitutional party) to form Česká strana státoprávně pokroková (Czech constitutionally-advanced party) in April 1908 .
