Český rozhlas Vltava is the third nationwide radio program of the Czech public radio station Český rozhlas . The station is named after the Vltava , which is called Vltava in Czech , and is designed as a cultural station.

Vltava mainly plays classical music and jazz , as well as world music and contemporary music . The station reports on news from the cultural sector and broadcasts self-produced radio plays and radio features . The Vltava editorial team also oversees the additional digital programs ČRo D major for classical music and ČRo Jazz .

Vltava began broadcasting on September 4, 1972 with the symphonic poem Vltava (Die Moldau) by Bedřich Smetana after the cultural broadcaster of the Czechoslovak Radio, founded in 1964, was divided into a Czech and a Slovak.
