Ērģeme ( German Ermes ) is a village in the administrative district Valkas novads in Latvia with 319 inhabitants (2015). It is on the border with Estonia .
history
A castle of the Livonian Order was built here in the 14th century . The Battle of Ermes took place in 1560 during the Livonian War . The place is the center of a rural community with 941 inhabitants (2013).
