İbrahim Tatlıses

İbrahim Tatlıses (born January 1, 1952 in Şanlıurfa ) with real name İbrahim Tatlı is a Turkish actor and singer with Arabic and Kurdish roots. He is considered an important representative of arabesque music, he is also a well-known television presenter, producer and entrepreneur in Turkey .

life and work

İbrahim Tatlıses, known as Ibo, was born in 1952 in Şanlıurfa, Turkey, to an Arab - Kurdish family. His stage name "Tatlıses" means "sweet voice". He has his own show and radio station, is an actor and entertainer. He has also been known in Germany since his appearance on the Harald Schmidt Show in 1998. Even in his youth he sang at weddings and parties. In 1975 a music producer noticed him, but his first album was not a success. At the age of 23 he moved to Istanbul . At first he kept himself afloat with odd jobs until he released his second album "Ayaginda Kundura" in 1978. This brought him his breakthrough and was the beginning of a commercially successful career that lasted until the late 1980s. The unmarried İbrahim Tatlıses has five children. He owns several companies, including restaurant chains, a coach company, an airline, its own radio station, a television station, a cheese and yoghurt production company, and a textile manufacturing company. Because of his great success, he is referred to in the media as an emperor .

Late in the evening of March 13, 2011, the singer was seriously injured in an attack with a large-caliber submachine gun after his show (Ibo Show) was recorded on Beyaz TV . According to reports, Tatlıses was hit in the head and was operated on several times. The spokesman for the treating hospital reported during the night that the singer was out of danger. On the evening of March 16, an underworld boss known to the police was arrested as a suspect client.

For the parliamentary elections in July 2007 , İbrahim Tatlıses ran initially as an independent in his hometown of Şanlıurfa, then later with the Genç Parti in Istanbul and suffered a severe election defeat. The Genç Parti received around 3 percent of the vote and thus clearly failed because of Turkey's 10 percent threshold .
