The Ōko waterfall ( Japanese 大川 の 滝 Ōko-no-taki ) is a waterfall on Yakushima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture . It has a fall height of 88 m and is part of the list of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan drawn up by the Ministry of the Environment in 1990 . The Japanese name is made up of the Kanjis大 ("large"; ō ) and 川 ("river"; here in the nanori reading ko ).
