Ōtsuka Miki

Ōtsuka Miki ( Japanese大 塚 幹; * May 17, 1891 ; † July 18, 1945 ) was an admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II .

After serving on various warships, Ōtsuka was retired on December 15, 1939 with the rank of sea ​​captain ( Kaigun-Daisa ) on the Jokosuka as a reserve officer . On September 10, 1941, he was reactivated and used on the Jokosuka , as well as briefly on other ships. On October 15, 1944 he was Rear Admiral ( Kaigun-Shōshō ). On April 27, 1945 Ōtsuka took command of the battleship Nagato lying in the port of Kure , on which he had already served as a corvette captain ( Kaigun-Shosa ) in the 1920s . On July 18, 1945, the Nagato was attacked by American carrier aircraft and damaged by bombs on the bridge and deck, killing Rear Admiral Ōtsuka and 50 other men. Posthumously he was promoted to Vice Admiral ( Kaigun-Chūjhō ).
