Şule Şahbaz

Şule Şahbaz (born January 27, 1978 ) is a former Turkish weightlifter .

Career

Şahbaz won the gold medal at the European Championships in 1996 in the class up to 70 kg. In 1997 she was able to defend her title at the European Championships . At the 1998 World Championships she won silver in the class up to 75 kg. She also came in second at the 1999 European Championships . In 2001 she was runner-up again at the world championships. At the European Championships in 2002 she won gold. In 2003 she was fourth in a duel and second in snatch at the European Championships . At the world championships in the same year she won bronze in a duel and silver in snatch. In 2004 she became vice-European champion in duels, European champion in snatch and third in pushing at the European championships . In the same year she was part of the squad for the Olympic Games in Athens. One day before her competition, however, she was disqualified for a doping violation and suspended for two years. After her suspension, she took part in the 2009 European Championships , where she was sixth in the 75 kg class.
