Saip Kamberi

Šaip Kamberi ( Cyrillic  Шаип Kамбери , Albanian  Shaip Kamberi ; born October 15, 1964 in Veliki Trnovac , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a lawyer and politician who belongs to the Albanian minority in southern Serbia . Since 2012 he has been the mayor of Opština Bujanovac .

Life

Kamberi attended elementary school in his hometown of Veliki Trnovac for eight years. Then he attended the high school (Srednja škola) "Sezai Suroi" in Bujanovac , which he graduated with a university entrance qualification. He then studied at the University of Pristina and graduated there in 1989 as a lawyer. Kamberi is married and has two children.

Political career

From 2000 to 2008, Kamberi was a correspondent for the daily newspaper Zëri from Kosovo . He is the founder of the Human Rights Committee for the branch of Bujanovac and was its president from 2002 to 2008.

From 2008 to 2012 Kamberi was mayor of Opština Bujanovac for the first time. In 2016 he was re-elected to this position. In 2014 he was elected a member of the Serbian Parliament for two years .

Šaip Kamberi was elected chairman of the Partija za demokratsko delovanje in October 2018 . He replaced Riza Halimi , who had led the party for 28 years.
