Żanna Słoniowska ( Ukrainian Жанна Слоньовська Schanna Slonjowska ; scientific transliteration Žanna Slon'ovs'ka * 1978 in Lviv , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian - Polish writer , journalist and translator .

biography

After finishing school, Żanna Słoniowska studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Book Printing in Lviv . She then worked for a short time at the local independent television company NTA, before moving to Kiev in 2003 . In 2002 she moved to Poland. She first lived in Warsaw to do a doctorate in social sciences. But she soon moved to Krakow , where she has lived as a writer, journalist and translator (Ukrainian-Russian-Polish) ever since.

Słoniowska published two books. As a lover of Lviv history, she was the first to publish a photo book about pre-war Lviv, which was published in Warsaw in 2013. Her first novel followed in 2015 ( Dom z witrażem - The house with the stained glass window), which is about a house built in 1912 in the city center of Lviv and its history, especially in the Soviet era. She wrote it in Polish. She received several awards for this book; there are translations into Ukrainian, English, French and German.
