Ieva Žalimaitė

Ieva Žalimaitė (* 1992 in Plungė ) is a Lithuanian chess player.

Life

After graduating from Saulės Gymnasium in Plungė district , Ieva Žalimaitė completed her bachelor's degree from September 2013 to 2017 at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Aleksandras Stulginskis University (ASU) in Kaunas . She was a member of the ASU Chess Cultural Center. As a member of the ASU team Žalimaitė represented the University at the Lithuanian Students Chess Championships, SELL Student Games etc. In September 2010, she reached the Elo rating of 1926 (so far maximum number). In 2018 she became the Lithuanian women's individual champion. Her Elo rating is 1717 (as of 2018).

Your first trainer was Vitalius Vladas Andriušaitis (1927-2006). Then she was looked after by FM Sigitas Kalvaitis (* 1987). Both coaches are from the VŠK klubas "Bokštas" chess club and work in Plungė.

Her mother Genovaitė Žalimienė has been a chess trainer since 2000 and is the director of the club (VŠK) "Bokštas".

Her sister Virginija Žalimaitė played chess for Plungė's team. Virginija's daughter Rugilė also plays chess.
