Žarko Puhovski (born December 15, 1946 in Zagreb ) is Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Zagreb .

Life

Žarko Puhovski studied physics and political science at the University of Zagreb and philosophy in Frankfurt. In 1973/74 he was an assistant at the University of Zagreb and was part of the practice group . Since 1975 he has been professor of political science (focus: political philosophy) at the University of Zagreb.

In 1988 he was one of the founders of the first independent political organization in Yugoslavia, the Udruženje za jugoslovensku demokratsku inicijativu (UJDI, Association for a Yugoslav Democratic Initiative). From 2000 to 2007 he was President of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights.
