Ștefan Bathori ( 1949 or 1950 - August 15, 2010 ) was a Romanian football player .

Athletic career

Bathori played as a goalkeeper for Olimpia Satu Mare in the 1970s and 1980s . Since the team played for several years in the first-class Divizia A , they are considered the "golden generation". In 1974 he rose to the top division with the club, relegation in 1976 followed by immediate resurgence. After relegation in 1980, he stayed with the team in the Divizia B as a result . With the ninth place in the table in the first division season 1974/75 , the best result in the club's history to date was achieved.

Bathori, who had worn the Romanian colors as a junior national player, later guarded the goal for ACS Poli Timișoara .

His son of the same name first played at CFR Timișoara before he became a referee after completing his military service .
