β-Bungarotoxin is a protein and neurotoxin from the snake Bungarus multicinctus .

properties

β-Bungarotoxin is produced in the poison gland. It is a heterodimer with phospholipase A 2 activity. It occurs in two isoforms , β 1 -ungarotoxin and β 2 -ungarotoxin. κ-bungarotoxin and α-bungarotoxin have a postsynaptic effect , while β-bungarotoxin has a presynaptic effect.
