Ssin

Ssin ( Pashto :ښين śin , also xe , shin ;ښ) is a letter of the Pashtun alphabet . Ssin consists of a Sin (س) with a point above and below.

The pronunciation of the Ssin is like that of the Zze (ږ) Strongly dialect dependent: it ranges from the voiceless postalveolar fricative [⁠ ʃ ⁠] in southeastern dialects over the voiceless retroflex fricative [⁠ ʂ ⁠] in southwestern and the voiceless palatal fricative [⁠ ç ⁠] in northwestern dialects to the voiceless velar fricative [⁠ x ⁠] in northeastern dialects.
