The Pashtun vowel symbols : on the far left the Zwarakay

Zwarakay (Pashtunزورکى) is an optional character of the Pashtun language's extended Arabic alphabet that is used to vocalize text. It is used to identify the short vowel ə (a Schwa ), which is specific to Pashtun. The Zwarakay is a horizontal line (and can therefore be distinguished from Fatha , which is oblique) and is placed above the consonant to be vocalized .
