… Taur-Nu-Fuin… is the debut album of the Polish NSBM band Infernum . It is a significant release on the Polish black metal scene and is considered the first NSBM release in album length.
Emergence
After the second demo Damned Majesty Tom Balrog was replaced by Capricornus on drums. Rob Darken from Graveland took over the keyboards again. Karcharoth played guitars and vocals.
In early September 1994, the album was recorded and mixed in Rob Darken's Isengard studio. At the end of 1994 Infernum released the album on Astral Wings Records first on tape, followed by a CD in 1995. Due to right-wing extremist content on this album and the cover, the Polish police became aware of Infernum and began investigations, whereupon the band broke up and was continued by Karcharoth and Tom Balrog on the one hand and Darken and Capricornus on the other.
Artwork
The cover shows Karcharoth in corpse paint and cloak, who is standing in the forest at night. In addition, a crossed-out portrait of Anton Szandor LaVey can be seen as a logo on the back , similar to the one used by the Norwegian band Burzum on their EP Aske .
style
Infernum played on … Taur-Nu-Fuin… classic Black Metal with the keyboards typical of the Polish sound and the raw production. Occasionally, e.g. B. in the song Gammadion , wind noises and raven croaks were used. The riffing is simple, melodic in places and is based heavily on that of Norwegian bands. Compared to Graveland, the band became not only because of the identical line-up at the same time, but also because of the music and ideology.
The album begins with an intro and the track In the Black Clouds of War , which begins with a blast beat underlined by a keyboard melody and is then continued with atmospheric mid-tempo riffing. The song Gammadion is held in a mid-tempo 3/4 time and is interrupted by several breaks, which are backed by raven croaking. My honor is called Treue is an instrumental piece that consists of a riff played by the electric guitar. Cathari Sects is fast and aggressive, the main riff is accompanied by the sound of bells and the sound of the wind.
Texts
The band did not publish the lyrics, but in the song Gammadion the slogans "Sieg oder Tod" and " Sieg Heil " can be heard clearly. The title of the instrumental Meine Ehre is Treue quotes a saying of the SS .
reception
The album is considered a classic in the NSBM scene, but is also valued outside the NSBM scene due to the music. Akhenaten by Judas Iscariot described Infernum on his website on the Polish black metal scene as another face of the band Graveland in their Thousand Swords era. The band Weltmacht , whose line-up includes Akhenaten, was named after Infernum's song Weltmacht or Nidergang [sic!] .

On the older versions, the track Weltmacht or Niedergang is written with a typo ( Nidergang ).

… Taur-Nu-Fuin… was released on LP in 2004 by Sombre Records and on CD by Supernal Music , and in 2012 on LP by No Colors Records . There are also several unofficial pressings.
