The .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR) , and .22 WMR , .22 Magnum , . .22 Mag , Hunter's Pet is a cartridge for small caliber - handguns for both cans and as handguns .
history
The cartridge is a rimfire cartridge created by the Winchester company at the annual meeting of the NRA in Washington in 1959 , which was designed with three projectile weights of 30 grain, 40 grain and 50 grain. The ammunition was the successor to the .22 WRF.
The companies Ruger and Smith & Wesson brought out suitable revolvers for this immediately after their introduction . Not until 1960 followed Winchester with a suitable rifle, the Winchester Model 61. The .22 WMR is still used today as a closed- season caliber for hunting small and predatory game. The cartridge is more powerful than the .22 lfB . The .22 WMR differs from the .22-lfB cartridge in terms of case diameter and case length.
