0137 Night Talk (an offshoot of 0137 ) was one of the first call-in programs on German television and was moderated by Bettina Rust .

Conception

0137 Night Talk, contrary to today's call-in programs, was neither a quiz program nor an advisory program such as Domian on 1 Live , but a mostly open-topic call program in an unencrypted time slot on the pay TV channel Premiere in the early 1990s. In addition to the possibility of calling, messages could also be sent to the show by fax or Datex-J - the result was a kind of moderated chat on television.

The program, which is broadcast once a week (from Friday to Saturday around midnight), was produced in the striking tower building of the “Hotel Hafen” in Hamburg. Originally only 30 minutes long, the broadcast time was extended to 45 minutes after a short time. What was striking about the broadcast concept was the camera work, which was quite innovative for the German television landscape at the time, in which camera cranes and steadicam systems were always used to create an “artistic” image . The actual set was deliberately kept simple: the presenter sat at a desk, in front of her the phone and a screen for caller lists and text messages. The dark Hamburg cityscape could be seen in the background .

Despite a positive audience response to the end, the format was discontinued by Premiere after a year and a half because the program no longer fit into the new broadcast concept of the station - the last program was broadcast on the night of December 30th to 31st, 1994.
