1-17 Park Circus Place
An ensemble of residential buildings is located at 1-17 Park Circus Place in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1970 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. In addition, the building is part of a more comprehensive monument ensemble of category A.
history
The Scottish architect Charles Wilson designed the row of buildings in 1854. However, the construction was initially not carried out. It was not until 1872 and 1873 that Wilson's design was finally implemented. House number nine is more recent. It was only built in 1887 to a design by John Archibald Campbell .
description
The three-story row of buildings is built on a gently sloping slope. It is located on the eastern edge of the Park District, northwest of Glasgow city center. To the west is the ensemble 1–29 Park Circus . The south-west exposed main facades of the classicist houses are each three axes wide. The two final houses emerge slightly from the facade. The masonry on the ground floor is rusticated . The entrance doors are accessible via short front stairs. They are equipped with fighters windows worked and flanking side windows, some with inserted Ätzglasscheiben . The windows on the first floor close with architraves and simple crowns . Window cornices below the windows structure the facade. The facade closes with a cornice .
