1000 Funerals was a funeral doom band active from 2005 to 2012 .

history

In Tehran living metal musician and multi-instrumentalist Hamid Avinar Malekzadeh As alias "Emerna" founded in 1000 Funerals as one of several solo projects in August 2005. In addition Avinar , Shab and Hamid MzA , going about the different styles, he worked in 1000 Funerals as Funeral -Doom project. Conflicting with the Iranian metal scene , which he believed would turn down his debut, he introduced a fictional four-member band and gave his own name as a guest musician. He invented the legend of the singer "Pixey", who had to leave the band due to a later wedding and her husband's negative attitude towards music. In December of the founding year, 1000 Funerals self- published the debut Portrait of a Dream . Soon after, "Emerna" put the project on hold and concentrated on other projects. In 2010, encouraged by the friend "Emerna" s Haamoon Heyrat, 1000 Funerals was reactivated with his continued participation. Subsequently, the project signed a contract with the Russian label Silent Time Noise , where the second album Butterfly Decadence was released in 2011 and the debut was re-released in 2012. After these publications, "Emerna" ended again the activity with 1000 Funerals.

After both albums were released on the Russian label, they were received internationally. The reviews were positive to exuberant. Reviewers commented on the music from rating it as “not absolutely necessary, but worth a try” to rating it as “simply sublime funeral doom”.

style

The music played by 1000 Funerals is attributed to Funeral Doom . According to the webzine Doom-Metal.com , the music belongs to the "slow, dark and romantic" side of the genre. For a classifying comparison, reference is made there and in reviews to different genre representatives, including Shape of Despair , Thergothon Mornful Congregation and Pantheist .

1000 Funerals uses a "curved, expansive keyboard game" with the appearance of orchestral arrangements of flutes and strings as well as a "gently repetitive" percussion as a background against the leisurely riffing of the guitar and a quiet and withdrawn growling that creates an impression between growling, chanting and Clear singing leaves, spread.
