2. Rugby Bundesliga (women)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2nd Women's Bundesliga has existed since the 2005/06 season. The first two places in this league, which is played in tournament form, move into the final of the German championship in rugby 10 , in which the first-placed team has home rights. The first German champion in rugby 10 in 2006 was the Stuttgart RC , he defeated the Wiedenbrücker TV in the final. In 2007, the Stuttgart RC defeated ASV Köln in the final with 22:15 and was the German 10-a-side rugby champion for the second time.

Six teams played in the 2007/08 season: ASV Cologne , Munich RFC, Wiedenbrücker TV , SG Erfurt / Jena, RC Leipzig and RK Heusenstamm. In the final, ASV Köln won 42-0 against RFC Munich and had therefore not lost a game in the entire 2007/08 season. In the 2008/09 season, RK 03 Berlin will be added to the six clubs from the previous year, which the year before played as a syndicate with Potsdam in the Regionalliga Ost.

Also in the season 2008/09 the ASV Köln remained undefeated. They defeated the Wiedenbrücker TV 44-0 in the final and are again German champions of the 2nd Bundesliga.
