The Wiedenbrücker TV (officially: Wiedenbrücker Turnverein eV from 1887 ) is a sports club from Rheda-Wiedenbrück in the Gütersloh district . The men's rugby team has played in the 2nd Bundesliga since 2019.

history

The club was founded in 1887 and offers the sports of aikido , badminton , women's gymnastics , apparatus gymnastics , handball , judo , youth, children's and youth gymnastics , weight room, athletics , rehabilitation sports, rugby, swimming , senior gymnastics , Shaolin Kempo , games and sports, trampoline , Volleyball and walking .

In 1970 Horst Lück, teacher at the Osterrath Realschule in Wiedenbrück, founded a rugby company. Five years later, she joined Wiedenbrücker TV. In 1978 the men's team rose to the regional league. In 1980 and 1982 the C and B students became German masters. The women's team played from 2006 to 2010 in the 2nd Bundesliga , where rugby 10 was played. In 2009 and 2010 the women from Wiedenbrück reached the championship finals, but lost both games against ASV Köln . In the 2012/13 season , the men's team played in the 2nd Bundesliga West, but withdrew despite the relegation achieved through sport. In 2019 the men's team rose again to the 2nd Bundesliga West.
