213 (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hip-hop trio 213 (Two One Three) consisted of rappers Nate Dogg , Warren G and Snoop Dogg from Long Beach (California) . The name can be derived from the former area code of Long Beach 213. The three teamed up in the 1980s before gaining fame as solo artists. Snoop and Nate Dogg were cousins and Warren G, the step-brother of Dr. Dre, has been friends with both of them since childhood.

It was only in 2004, after they had sold over 25 million records as solo artists together, that they reunited to release their first album The Hard Way . At that time 21 was the area code of Los Angeles and the 3 stands for the three protagonists . Long Beach now has its own area code (562), but the band name has been retained.

On the night of March 16, 2011, Nate Dogg died of a stroke at the age of 41.
