The 286th Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II .
Division history
The division was formed on December 17, 1944 near Memel in East Prussia from the 286th Security Division in the area of the 3rd Panzer Army . Due to the Soviet offensive in East Prussia, the deployment and training was no longer completed. The association got involved in the fighting for East Prussia and was smashed in February 1945 near Neukuhren in East Prussia.
Then the remains of the combat units of the division in mid-April 1945, according to Swinoujscie sent and shared with the previous Infantry Division Raegener in the Education Division 286 renamed. The remnants of the staff units of the 286th Infantry Division remained in Samland and formed the staff of Division zbV 619 .
